- UVB levels: Several provinces, including Gauteng and the Western Cape, are forecast to have a very high UVB sunburn index; KwaZulu-Natal is reported as having an extreme UVB level on the day of the forecast.

Practical advice

- When driving through areas of morning fog, reduce speed, use dipped headlights and allow extra stopping distance; be prepared for sudden visibility changes.
- High UVB levels mean sunburn can occur quickly. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen, wear a hat and protective clothing, and seek shade during peak sunlight hours.
- If you plan outdoor activities in inland provinces where it will be hot, stay hydrated and limit strenuous exertion during the hottest part of the day.
