Hansi, Aug 15: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state was moving forward rapidly with the slogan “Viksit Bharat‑Viksit Haryana” as he unfurled the national flag in Hansi on the 80th Independence Day. He paid tribute to freedom fighters and those who later died defending the country, and announced administrative and development measures for the newly created district.
Hansi made 23rd district; administrative posts sanctioned
Saini said Hansi has been designated the 23rd district of Haryana and described it as a matter of privilege to hoist the tricolour in the town now elevated to district status. To ensure smooth functioning of the new administrative unit, the state government has sanctioned 471 posts, he informed.
The chief minister also said the existing 50‑bed hospital in Hansi has been upgraded to a 100‑bed facility, and that new divisions and sub‑divisions of the Public Works Department have been created to accelerate development works in the area.
Employment and sports recognition
At the ceremony, Saini honoured Hansi boxer Narender Berwal, a silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games. The chief minister also presented employment guarantee certificates to nine local youth under the Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Act, 2024.
Saini highlighted the state government’s claims on job creation, saying that in the nearly 12 years of the current administration more than two lakh youth had been provided government employment through transparent recruitment processes.
“Haryana has always played a leading role, from the freedom struggle to safeguarding the country’s borders,” Saini said as he addressed the gathering in Hansi.
Delivery of manifesto promises and agricultural focus
The chief minister outlined progress against the party’s election commitments, saying that of the 217 ‘Sankalps’ (promises) listed in the Assembly poll manifesto, 70 have been fulfilled during the past one-and-a-half years, while work is underway on the remaining 147.
On agriculture, Saini said farmers remained central to government policy. He reported around 24,000 farmers in the state had adopted natural farming across roughly 44,000 acres. He added that procurement at Minimum Support Price for 24 crops was being undertaken, a programme intended to support farm incomes.
What the announcements mean locally
Officials said the new district status is expected to bring administrative offices, quicker grievance redressal and closer delivery of services for residents of Hansi and surrounding areas. The additional sanctioned posts and upgraded hospital should, if filled and equipped, expand local public employment and health access.
- Administrative staffing: 471 posts sanctioned for Hansi district.
- Health upgrade: 50‑bed hospital upgraded to 100 beds.
- Jobs: Nine youth given employment guarantees; state cites over two lakh government jobs created in past nearly 12 years.

Administration and implementation questions
While the government has announced posts and upgrades, implementation will depend on subsequent recruitment, budgetary allocations and timely procurement of equipment and staff. Observers note that creation of a new district often requires setting up multiple line departments, district courts, police administration and revenue offices — processes that can take months.
Saini reiterated a call to citizens to embrace the state’s cultural traditions and moral values and to work towards building a prosperous Haryana aligned with national development goals. He emphasised transparency and delivery of services “at the doorstep”, reflecting the administration’s stated governance priorities.
The Independence Day event in Hansi combined ceremonial observance with a string of administrative announcements, signalling the state government’s intention to concentrate resources and attention on the newly formed district in the coming months.
