Large student contingents, cultural acts mark Rohtak celebrations
Approximately 1,600 students drawn from 16 schools presented coordinated physical displays and cultural items during the Independence Day function held at Rajeev Gandhi Sports Stadium in Rohtak on Saturday. The event combined mass exercise sequences, regional cultural performances and a formal flag-hoisting ceremony presided over by Cooperation and Tourism Minister Dr Arvind Sharma.

He said he had asked the Union Railway Minister to consider extending that service to Delhi.
The minister also highlighted the state government’s focus on inclusive development. He said Haryana was continuing to advance on economic, social and industrial fronts and emphasised the need to ensure that development benefits reached all segments of society, including the poor, farmers, women and youth.
Organisers said the cultural programme showcased a variety of themes and disciplines: Mallakhamb and yoga demonstrations, portrayals of historical freedom movements, performances celebrating sporting accomplishments, and presentations illustrating the cultural heritage of different Indian states. Students and other participants were later felicitated, and the ceremony included recognition of employees and citizens noted for outstanding contributions in various fields.
