UK-based travel wholesaler Major Travel has introduced a cruise-booking function to its digital platform, Major Go, allowing travel agents to create, price and confirm end-to-end cruise holidays from a single interface. The new capability is launching in pilot mode with participating agents invited to trial the system during August.
One platform for complete cruise itineraries
The enhanced Major Go functionality enables agents to select a cruise and cabin grade, add pre- or post-cruise hotel nights, arrange transfers and package flights — effectively managing an entire multi-component itinerary without juggling separate reservations. It also connects agents to cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and Disney Cruise Line, alongside other brands represented by the wholesaler.
- Single workflow: choose the cruise, pick cabin grade, add hotels and transfers.
- Integrated packaging: combine flights, hotels and cruise in a single booking flow.
- Live pricing and support: bookings are backed by Major Travel’s existing pricing feeds and support framework.
Major Travel said the product is intended to make it easier for agents to offer bespoke cruise-based holidays, rather than managing multiple separate bookings for each component of a trip.
“This is a real game changer for agents selling cruise. Being able to create the whole holiday in one place, rather than managing separate bookings for flights, hotels and transfers, makes it much easier to offer customers a truly tailor-made experience,” said Qasim Gulamhusein, managing director at Major Travel.
Pilot incentives and next steps
During the pilot period, agents who sign up can quote and make bookings using the new cruise functionality and provide feedback directly to the Major Go product team. As an incentive for early participation, the company is offering an additional £50 for every cruise booking made through Major Go during the pilot window, which runs until September.
| Feature | What it offers |
|---|---|
| Select cruise & cabin | Pick itinerary and accommodation level on board |
| Package add-ons | Add flights, hotels and transfers to a single booking |
| Live pricing | Real-time fares and availability from Major Travel |
Major Travel described the rollout as a response to agent demand for greater flexibility and choice in selling cruise products. The company believes that enabling agents to assemble entire holidays in one place will help them present more customised options to customers, supported by live pricing and existing supplier relationships.
What this means for South African agents and travellers
Although Major Travel is a UK wholesaler and the initial launch is UK-focused, the move signals a broader industry trend towards integrated booking tools that simplify multi-component holiday creation. South African agents working with international wholesalers or seeking to expand cruise offerings may watch the platform’s progress closely as it could influence expectations for digital booking convenience and packaging capability.
For travellers, the development promises a smoother experience when booking cruises through agents, particularly for complex itineraries that require flights and hotel stays around a cruise departure. Agents able to manage everything in one workflow can reduce administrative friction and potential booking errors.
Major Travel has invited agents to join the pilot and help shape the product ahead of a fuller market launch. The company said feedback from early users will inform refinements before broader rollout.
For agents interested in participating, Major Travel published sign-up details on its platform and promotional materials for the pilot period.
