Interior Health has announced the Clinton Health & Wellness Centre will reopen to patients and clients on Wednesday, Aug. 19, restoring key primary-care services that were paused because of recent wildfires.
Services returning after evacuations
The centre, located at 1510 Cariboo Highway, had closed on July 24 during the response to the Pear Lake and FiftyNine Creek fires. Starting Aug. 19 it will offer weekday nursing, laboratory work and basic care from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
People seeking appointments or information are asked to call 250-459-2028 or 250-459-2083. Interior Health says Home Health services in the Clinton area resumed on Aug. 16, and residents who need in-home care can book through the regional line at 1-800-707-8550.
Support and recovery resources in the community
As residents return and begin recovery, a multi-stakeholder Resiliency Centre has been set up at the Clinton Curling Club, 1419 Kellow Lane. The centre is hosted by the Village of Clinton alongside High Bar First Nation, Whispering Pines First Nation and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. It aims to centralize information and supports for people transitioning back to their homes.
- Resiliency Centre hours: seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; phone 778-583-0334.
- Clinton Health Centre hours: weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; phones 250-459-2028 or 250-459-2083.
- Home Health bookings: 1-800-707-8550.
Where to go for urgent and non-urgent care
For same-day urgent needs, residents are advised to use the Ashcroft Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) at 700 Ash-Cache Creek Highway. The UPCC can be reached at 250-453-2211; callers are encouraged to phone ahead so staff can triage needs and arrange appointments when feasible.
For non-urgent medical questions, B.C. residents can access the provincial health information line at 811, a 24/7 service that connects callers to a registered health professional. Anyone seeking immediate emotional or mental-health support is directed to the BC Crisis Line at 310-6789 (no area code required).
Information for returning home
Interior Health also points residents to its guidance on safely returning after wildfires via the health authority's web resources. The Resiliency Centre and local public-health teams can help with recovery planning, access to services and community supports as people assess properties and restart daily routines.

Restoring local access to routine nursing and lab services is a key step in easing pressure on regional emergency services and helping residents manage chronic conditions, vaccinations and other ongoing care needs after evacuation and displacement. The coordinated mix of in-person centres, home services and phone lines is intended to give returning households multiple pathways to care as the community rebuilds.
Interior Health and local partners continue to monitor conditions and will update services as recovery progresses.
