Regina Beach, Sask. — An eight-year-old boy died after a "water-related emergency" at Regina Beach on Friday afternoon, Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release.

Lumsden RCMP and local emergency medical services were called to the scene on Aug. 21 after reports of a child in the water. Police say the boy was found in the water and was later declared dead by EMS at the scene. His family has been notified.
The RCMP said the exact cause of death has not been released. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service has taken over the investigation. In its release, the RCMP added there is "no element of criminality" and therefore they will not be releasing further details.
