Hyderabad: The Telangana School Education Department and T‑SAT on Saturday signed a formal memorandum of understanding (MoU) to broadcast digital lessons and school-related programmes across the state’s government schools, officials said. The agreement was signed and exchanged at the Director of School Education office by Dr Naveen Nicholas, Director of School Education, and Bodanapalli Venu Gopala Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of T‑SAT.

Statewide digital broadcasts to reach 28,000 schools

The MoU aims to make T‑SAT the primary platform for airing evening digital lessons for students of classes IX and X, alongside telecasts of the education department’s flagship initiatives. Officials said the arrangement is in alignment with the vision of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to enhance the quality of government-school education through digital interventions.

Under the agreement, T‑SAT will also telecast district-level and community engagement programmes that the department runs through its district education officers (DEOs), enabling parents and local stakeholders to view special sessions and outreach activities.

Programmes to be aired via T‑SAT

According to the department, the following programmes will be broadcast through the T‑SAT network:

  • Evening lessons for classes IX and X
  • Face‑to‑Face — DEO‑conducted sessions with parents
  • Our District Our School — district‑level school showcases initiated by the Chief Minister
  • TLM Mela — teacher‑oriented resource fairs and training events

Dr Naveen Nicholas has directed relevant officials to co‑ordinate with departments such as Samagra Shiksha and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) so that all digital broadcast programmes are conducted through the T‑SAT platform.

Programme Primary Audience
Evening lessons (classes IX–X) Students of classes IX and X across government schools
Face‑to‑Face Parents and local education stakeholders
Our District Our School School communities and district administrators
TLM Mela Teachers and resource persons

Officials underline expected benefits

Both signatories said the move is expected to bring clarity and consistency to digital education broadcasts by centralising telecasts on the state’s satellite platform. They expressed the view that structured digital lessons and the airing of teacher‑development events will help raise learning outcomes and professional capacity in government schools.

Officials highlighted that broadcasting DEO‑led parent engagement sessions on T‑SAT would allow families across urban and rural Telangana to access district outreach activities, while evening telecasts for secondary classes are intended to supplement classroom teaching.

Operational directives and next steps

Following the signing, the Director of School Education reportedly issued instructions to concerned officials to ensure that programme schedules, content standards and coordination mechanisms are established with T‑SAT. The department also asked that Samagra Shiksha and SCERT integrate their broadcast initiatives into the T‑SAT timetable so that all department programmes use a single platform.

Officials said the MoU does not replace existing in‑school instruction but is designed to supplement teaching and reach stakeholders who are unable to attend district events in person.

Implications for students and teachers

Education experts and administrators in the state have in recent years advocated for multi‑channel delivery of curricular and pedagogic support, especially for secondary classes where exam‑oriented coaching is often sought outside the government system. By leveraging the T‑SAT satellite and broadcast network, the state aims to widen access to standardised lessons and capacity‑building content without additional travel or cost for many families.

Implementation details such as broadcast timings, content language options and mechanisms for feedback from students, parents and teachers will be worked out by the department and T‑SAT during the operationalisation phase, officials said.

The partnership represents a widening of Telangana’s push to integrate technology into basic education delivery, with the state seeking to combine classroom resources, district engagement and teacher support through a single broadcast medium.
