Agartala: The Government of Tripura and cloud-software firm Salesforce have launched a joint initiative to expand access to digital skills across the state, aiming to reach more than 10,000 learners by 2027. The collaboration, announced at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 in Agartala, will use Salesforce’s online learning platform Trailhead to offer curated, self-paced courses for beginners and intermediate learners.
Programme focus and delivery
The training initiative is designed to equip students, youth, government employees and entrepreneurs with practical competencies relevant to an AI-driven economy. Learning paths on the platform will cover areas including customer relationship management (CRM), business analysis and technology fundamentals, supported by online orientation material to help participants navigate the platform.
The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, will identify and enrol participants through government departments, educational institutions and skill development agencies, and will lead awareness and access efforts across the state. The announcement comes as the state scales up its digital infrastructure and e-governance programmes.
“Our partnership with Salesforce marks a key milestone in Tripura’s digital journey. With strong policy foundations already in place, this collaboration will equip our students, government workforce, and entrepreneurs with future-ready digital skills, driving innovation and inclusive growth,” said Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura.
Context within Tripura’s tech push
The move aligns with several concurrent state initiatives referenced at the conclave: development of a Tripura IT and Data Ecosystem Zone (TIDEZ) in Agartala, plans for an IT Park and an AI Centre of Excellence, and the expansion of the e-Office system from the State Secretariat to all three tiers of the Panchayati Raj structure. These projects aim to strengthen the local IT ecosystem and create pathways for employment and entrepreneurship within the state.
Who will benefit and how
The programme targets a broad group of stakeholders:
- Students and young job-seekers seeking foundational digital and business-technology skills.
- Government employees who can apply CRM and technology basics in e-governance and public service delivery.
- Entrepreneurs and small business owners looking to leverage CRM and analytics for growth.
By using a self-paced online model, the collaboration aims to remove geographic constraints and allow learners in remote areas of the state to access the material, provided they have internet connectivity and device access.
Programme mechanics and timelines
Salesforce will supply guided learning paths and orientation resources on Trailhead. DIT will select participants and promote the programme through its networks. The stated target is to reach in excess of 10,000 learners by 2027, with the initial announcement made at the 2026 conclave.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platform | Salesforce Trailhead (online) |
| Primary beneficiaries | Students, youth, government employees, entrepreneurs |
| Target reach | More than 10,000 learners by 2027 |
| State initiatives linked | TIDEZ, planned IT Park, AI Centre of Excellence, e-Office expansion |
Practical considerations and next steps
For the programme to be effective, digital access will be critical. While Trailhead provides self-paced modules, learners require reliable internet and devices. The DIT’s role in identifying participants and coordinating with educational and skill agencies will be central to outreach—particularly for rural and marginalised communities.
Officials did not provide details in the announcement on certification, mandatory minimum course completions, or whether any local facilitation centres or blended (online-plus-in-person) support will be provided. Likewise, there was no immediate information on post-training placement support or linkage with private-sector hiring.
If implemented as described, the collaboration would complement Tripura’s wider attempt to build an IT ecosystem, potentially improving employability and enabling government staff to adopt digital tools for public service delivery. The state administration and Salesforce will likely publish further operational details, enrolment guidelines and timelines in the coming months.
Reporting note: The collaboration was announced jointly by Salesforce and the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 in Agartala.
