Viral video prompts action after boy beaten and filmed
A video that circulated on social media shows a 12-year-old boy being stripped, beaten and filmed in a colony under the Quilla police station's jurisdiction in Panipat. The incident, which police say occurred on September 5, led to the registration of a case and the arrest of two accused on Wednesday evening.
According to Quilla police records, the attack was allegedly triggered by a comment made by the child on Facebook. The accused are reported to have contacted the boy's elder brother by impersonating officers posted to the CIA unit and coaxed him into revealing the family's location. They then reached the house, abused family members and assaulted the child.

Police said the attackers stripped the boy, obtained his Instagram credentials and forced him to apologise on camera while continuing to thrash him. The footage was allegedly uploaded on the child's Instagram account after the assault.
"A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and BNS. Both accused have been arrested and are being questioned. They will be produced before the court on Thursday," said DSP Pranay Kumar.
The family initially approached the Quilla police station after the accused left, but say no immediate action was taken. The boy's mother said the family stayed indoors for two days because they were afraid. The family later consulted a woman lawyer and subsequently met the SP, Panipat, on September 7 to press the complaint, according to the report.
Police response and next steps
Police confirmed registration of the case following the complaint. Two persons have been detained and are under interrogation, the DSP said. The accused are scheduled for production before a magistrate on Thursday as part of routine judicial process.
