Arrest made after victim found with multiple neck wounds
FARIDABAD: Faridabad police have arrested Kajal and her boyfriend, identified as Yogendra, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kajal's husband, Gopal, who was found dead at the couple's home during the intervening night of October 14 and 15, police said.
According to police, the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck. The accused initially gave a version that unidentified intruders had entered the house and attacked him, but Kajal later confessed during questioning that she had carried out the attack with the assistance of Yogendra.
"She initially blamed unidentified men for the killing but later confessed to the crime during questioning," police said.
Background points to long-running dispute and extramarital relationship
Police said the killing appears to have been plotted against a backdrop of months of marital discord arising from Kajal's relationship with Yogendra. The police identified Yogendra as a bouncer and said he was known to the family; he and Gopal had earlier been friends and Yogendra used to visit their village in Hathras.
Investigators said tensions increased when Yogendra began visiting more frequently and at times when Gopal was away from the family home.
- Victim: Gopal, native of Kunwarpur village, Hathras; worked as a machine operator in Faridabad for around two decades.
- Accused: Kajal (wife) and Yogendra (boyfriend; described as a bouncer) — both arrested by Faridabad police.
- Incident timing: Night of October 14–15, according to the police FIR and investigation timeline.
Family details and living arrangement
Police records and family background obtained during the probe indicate Kajal and Gopal had married in a court marriage in Hathras about 16 years ago after Kajal left her first husband. The couple had four children in the blended family: Shalini, now 19 (from Kajal's earlier marriage), and three children from the marriage with Gopal — Tanuj (10), Hanni (6) and Bhuri (3).
Gopal is reported to have built a house in their village with his earnings while continuing to work in Faridabad, periodically returning to the village. Kajal and the children largely stayed in the village; she sometimes brought the children to Faridabad.

Investigation status and legal process
Faridabad police said they have taken Kajal and Yogendra into custody and are conducting further inquiries. The investigation has focused on the timeline of Yogendra's visits to the family home, the relationship between the accused and the victim, and forensic evidence from the scene.
Police statements released so far emphasise that the case unfolded after Kajal's initial claim of a home invasion was disproved during questioning and follow-up enquiries.
The arrests bring charges corresponding to the homicide investigation; police did not provide fuller details of the charges in the initial public statements but said further legal action would follow as the probe develops.
Local residents and relatives contacted during the early stages of the investigation described the family arrangement in the village and the victim's long-term employment in Faridabad, underscoring the cross-district nature of the household's lives and the impact on both Faridabad and their native village in Hathras.
Police asked anyone with additional information relevant to the case to come forward to assist the investigation.
