Ontario has published a proposed Data Centre Playbook that would change how large computing facilities are allowed to connect to the provincial grid and what they must deliver for host communities. The framework, announced by the provincial government Thursday, seeks to ensure data centre investments bring local and economic benefits while making sure electricity costs are not shifted onto households and businesses.

he said at a press conference. The premier also said any approved data centre would be required to make significant community investments and to pay a higher portion of electricity costs so energy burdens are not passed on to families.
