Celebrating achievement and service at the August board meeting
The Livingston County Board of Education used its regularly scheduled August meeting to recognise sporting success, staff dedication and local business support. The board convened on Monday 10 August with all members present and, following the adoption of the agenda, heard a series of awards presented by Superintendent Amy Ramage and Board Chairperson David Kitchens.
The evening's honours included a pupil from Livingston Central High School, a primary-school catering manager and the owners of a local eatery recognised as community partners.
Rising golfer earns LiveRED Student award
Senior Ty Williams was presented with the LiveRED Student award for August after securing the Region 2 All “A” Golf Championship. According to the board, Williams is only the third Livingston Central player to win that title. His coach, Jason Culver, highlighted his work ethic, determination and refusal to settle as reasons to applaud the achievement.
“Ty’s work ethic, determination, and his refusal to settle are only a few reasons to celebrate this achievement.”
The board noted the community will be supporting Williams as he competes in the All A Classic State Tournament on 30 August in Richmond, Kentucky.
Staff recognised for service and school nourishment
For the LiveRED Staff award the board singled out Kanda Boyd, South Livingston Elementary Cafeteria Manager and Child Nutrition Programme Assistant, as the LiveRED winner for August. Superintendent Ramage praised Boyd’s commitment to “redefining what it means to serve”, saying she turns everyday moments in the cafeteria into opportunities for connection, joy and lasting impact.
Board papers noted Kanda was also one of three finalists for the Kentucky Association of School Administrators’ FRED award, and that she works closely with school administration to plan events that benefit pupils and families.
Local business owners celebrated as community partners
The meeting also recognised Bobby and Jacqueline Davidson, owners of Beau’s Place in Salem, with the Champion for Cardinals Community Partner Award. The Davidsons opened their premises to the district to provide a meal and a chance for fellowship for staff and families, an act the board said went beyond simple hospitality.
According to the board, the meal provided by the Davidsons was well received and the couple also gave new employees a chance to familiarise themselves with the business as part of the welcome.
