A 15-year-old Class 9 student was stabbed to death in Nangloi, west Delhi, on Thursday afternoon after an altercation over his friendship with a girl from his school, police said on Friday. Authorities said three juveniles were detained within hours of the incident and a case has been registered at Nangloi police station.
Sequence of events, according to police
Delhi Police said the victim was returning home from school with the girl and some friends when three boys first intercepted the group and questioned the girl about her relationship with the boy. Following a brief argument, the group continued home. About 15 to 20 minutes later, the same three boys intercepted them again and another dispute ensued.
"Around 15 to 20 minutes later, the same three boys intercepted them again and started an argument over the teenager's friendship with the girl, who was also present during the initial confrontation," a police officer said.
Police said one of the juveniles produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the right thigh before fleeing with his two associates. A PCR call reporting that the boy had been admitted with a stab injury was received at Nangloi police station from Sonia Hospital at about 1:50 pm, the officer added.
