Major package targets healthcare, roads, power and administrative services
Jaipur — Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday announced, inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 90 development works worth around ₹807 crore for Bikaner district, a package aimed at strengthening healthcare, education, road and power infrastructure, officials reported. The programme was held in Meghasar, where the Chief Minister said the new works would accelerate delivery of public services across the district.
During the event the Chief Minister formally inaugurated 74 completed projects with a combined value of about ₹664 crore, and laid foundation stones for 16 new projects estimated at ₹143 crore. The announcements span administrative reorganisation, hospital upgrades, transport improvements and renewable energy installations.
Key projects and local impact
Among the principal measures is the establishment of a new Mini Secretariat in Lunkaransar to consolidate administrative services locally. In healthcare, the state announced a Sub-District Hospital and modern trauma centre in Sridungargarh at an estimated cost of ₹25 crore, and the Meghasar Sub Health Centre will be upgraded to a Primary Health Centre. For Bikaner city, a new overbridge at Museum Circle was announced to relieve traffic congestion.
"In the education and healthcare sectors, the Meghasar Sub Health Centre will be upgraded to a Primary Health Centre, while a government primary school in Khajuwala will be upgraded to an upper-primary school."
Other localised announcements include a new Ayurvedic dispensary in Bikaner West and strengthening works for the Euro Sciences building at SP Medical College. New government primary schools were also announced for Chak 610-200 RD, opposite Dudi Petrol Pump in Sattasar and Jeevan Singh Ki Dhani, signalling attention to educational access in rural habitations.
- Solar energy: 47 solar power plants worth over ₹371 crore under PM-KUSUM Components A and C were inaugurated.
- Roads: Road projects valued at ₹105 crore include widening and renovation of MDR Palana-Khajuwala, Bhurasar-Ballar and Poogal-Makeri roads.
- Power infrastructure: A 132 KV Grid Sub Station at Haddan costing ₹24 crore was inaugurated; plans include a 220 KV GSS and transmission work among the foundation projects.
Completed works of note
Officials highlighted several completed schemes inaugurated at the event, ranging from market infrastructure to public amenities. These include development at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Bikaner, the Marudhara Botanical Garden at Bichwal, and a new community health centre building at Muqam.
| Project | Location | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|
| Sub-District Hospital & trauma centre | Sridungargarh | ₹25 crore |
| 132 KV Grid Sub Station (GSS) | Haddan | ₹24 crore |
| APMC development | Bikaner | ₹15 crore |
| Marudhara Botanical Garden | Bichwal | ₹5 crore |
| Community Health Centre building | Muqam | ₹5 crore |
Officials said the 47 solar plants inaugurated under PM-KUSUM are valued at more than ₹371 crore, reflecting a substantial push towards decentralised renewable energy in the district. Road improvements worth ₹105 crore are expected to enhance connectivity for farmers and traders who rely on rural thoroughfares for market access.
Local consequences and next steps
The package combines completed assets with projects at the foundation stage, creating both immediate benefits and future works requiring implementation and oversight. The Mini Secretariat in Lunkaransar should reduce travel for administrative tasks, while hospital and primary health centre upgrades are intended to expand local healthcare capacity. Power and solar projects aim to strengthen the grid and support agricultural pumping and rural electrification.
Execution of the announced schemes, especially the hospital, overbridge and transmission works, will determine how quickly residents experience improved services. Officials reported that the foundation-laying covered 16 projects with a combined estimated cost of ₹143 crore; these include a proposed 220 KV GSS and transmission work, reinforcing the focus on power infrastructure.
The mix of urban and rural interventions in the package underscores a district-wide approach to development, addressing congestion and civic facilities in Bikaner city while strengthening healthcare, education and power for villages across the district.
