Police in Cleveland have arrested a further seven men in an expanding inquiry connected to a series of violent incidents that followed a fatal head-on crash on the A66, the force said.
Recent arrests and allegations
Officers said four of the men, aged 35, 25, 40 and 21, were detained on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life after a vehicle collided with a house in Steele Crescent, Middlesbrough. The same group are also being questioned over an alleged arson attack after a caravan was set ablaze on Atlee Road, and a drugs offence, the force added.
Police said the four were inside a vehicle stopped by officers on Kingsley Road in Grangetown on Thursday night. A quantity of Class A drugs was seized at the time.
Three other men were also arrested: a 23-year-old on suspicion of threats to kill; a 42-year-old on suspicion of threats to kill and possession of criminal property; and a 30-year-old on suspicion of possession of criminal property. The force subsequently released these three on conditional bail.

The latest detentions bring the total number of people arrested since the crash to 24, Cleveland Police said. Officers have described the activity as part of a wider operation targeting alleged organised criminality in the area.

Detectives have previously said they were not linking a separate house fire, in which a seven-year-old girl and her aunt died, to the A66 crash.
