Aizawl: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the apex students' organisation in Mizoram, on Saturday expressed concern over what it described as highhanded activities of central agencies operating in the state without the sanction or knowledge of the state government and the police.
Students' body raises objections to central probes
A team of MZP leaders met state Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena and conveyed their apprehension that agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Income Tax department were working "unhindered" in Mizoram, according to a press statement issued by the student body.
"While the MZP is of the opinion that the law will take its own course, harassment meted out to traders and the general public is uncalled for and amounting to creating unnecessary problems to the local populace," MZP president C Lalremruata said in the statement.
