High security along procession route; heavy vehicles barred for hours
Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration has intensified security arrangements ahead of Milad‑un‑Nabi processions, dividing the route into seven zones and deploying magistrates and police personnel across the city, Times of India reported on Tuesday.
Authorities announced a temporary ban on heavy vehicles entering the city between 8 am and 11 pm on the day of the procession. The main procession will start from Gandhi Maidan in Mango at 9 am, move to Ambagan in Sakchi where groups from different areas will converge, and proceed via Straight Mile Road, Bistupur Roundabout and Kadma to Dhatkidih Central Ground, according to the report.
Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan said security personnel had been deployed in each zone and that special vigilance would be maintained at sensitive locations and major intersections. Officials were directed to inspect the route, install barricades and drop gates, and remove obstructions ahead of the procession.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waqarib said the control room would function round the clock to co‑ordinate the response and oversee operations. Medical teams, ambulances and fire tenders were assigned to key points — Gandhi Maidan, Ambagan and Dhatkidih — to respond immediately in case of emergencies.
The administration has also ordered inspections of the procession route and removal of obstructions. Police were instructed to keep a close watch on groups that might create disturbances and to enforce a ban on provocative songs during the processions, the report added.

With inputs from Ranchi, the report said authorities there conducted a flag march from Albert Ekka Chowk to Doranda and held peace committee meetings at police stations. In Ranchi, heavy vehicles will be banned from 6 am to midnight on the day of processions, and autorickshaws and e‑rickshaws will be prohibited in specific areas to ensure unimpeded movement and public safety.

Officials urged residents and commuters to follow instructions from police on duty, avoid travelling on procession routes during the restricted hours, and co‑operate with security checks. The administration said it would continue monitoring the situation and adjust deployments if necessary.
