Detectives from the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Kwazakhele, Gqeberha, are investigating two separate double murders that took place over the weekend, leaving four people dead and a community searching for answers.
Two distinct scenes, no confirmed link
The first incident occurred on 18 September at about 19:30 on Mango Street in France, Kwazakhele. Police who responded to reports of gunfire found a 47-year-old man dead behind the wheel of a vehicle. His 45-year-old wife was rushed to Livingstone Hospital in a private vehicle with serious injuries but later died. Their eight-year-old child — also in the car at the time — was unharmed.
The second killing was discovered on 19 September at about 10:05 on Salamntu Street, Nqantosi. Community members had reported hearing shots around 01:00 that morning. When they went to a shack that same morning they found the bodies of a 29-year-old man and an adult woman, both with gunshot wounds to the head. Both were declared dead at the scene.
