Police in the Eastern Cape have opened an investigation after two men were found dead and a third seriously injured following an assault next to the R334 in the Coega area on Saturday, 19 September.
SAPS Eastern Cape said officers received a complaint at about 10:23 and upon arrival discovered three male victims with severe injuries. Two males, each believed to be about 30 years old, were declared dead at the scene while the third was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

A provincial SAPS spokesperson said investigators were still establishing the circumstances around the incident and that the motive, as well as the identity of any suspect or suspects, remained unknown.

The spokesperson added that the identities of the deceased will only be released once their next of kin have been formally informed.
