The City of Roseville will launch a new weekday express bus line, Rapid Link, on Thursday, Oct. 1, providing direct service between Lincoln, downtown Roseville destinations and the Sacramento Regional Transit light rail at Watt/I-80.

Service, routing and partners

Rapid Link operates along the Highway 65 and Interstate 80 corridors and is scheduled to run Monday through Friday from roughly 6:40 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. in both directions. The new express will stop at key points including the Lincoln Park & Ride; the Galleria Transfer Point; Sutter Roseville Medical Center; Kaiser Roseville Medical Center; and the Watt/I-80 light rail station, offering riders connections to regional transit services.

The service is operated by Roseville Transit in coordination with the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, Placer County Transit, Yuba-Sutter Transit, Sacramento Regional Transit and the City of Lincoln. Officials said Rapid Link is part of the broader Placer-Sacramento Gateway Plan, an initiative aimed at improving travel along two heavily traveled corridors.

Fleet, fares and rider tools

All Rapid Link buses are all-electric, producing zero emissions. For planning and real-time tracking, passengers can use the TripShot mobile application to view routes, track buses and receive service alerts.

Riders will be able to use Rapid Link without paying a fare for a limited introductory period. City and transit officials have not disclosed the future fare levels or the date when fares will begin.

“Rapid Link gives riders a convenient way to travel by providing a comfortable and dependable transit option,” said Rich Frost, transit operations supervisor.

Why it matters to Roseville

The express connection is intended to improve commuter and regional mobility for residents who work, shop or access medical services across Roseville and neighboring cities. By linking two major highway corridors with the Watt/I-80 light rail station, Rapid Link is designed to expand options for cross-county travel without requiring a private vehicle.

  • Expanded options: Connections to Sacramento Regional Transit and multiple Placer County systems increase choices for riders.
  • Health center access: Stops at both Sutter and Kaiser Roseville medical campuses serve patients and healthcare workers.
  • Environment: An all-electric fleet aligns with regional emissions reduction goals.

Officials are promoting the service as a link for commuters, medical staff and residents traveling between Lincoln, downtown Roseville and Sacramento-area transit lines. The partnership among local and regional agencies is intended to provide seamless transfers for riders moving across jurisdictional boundaries.
