Phase II delivers large-format office space, linked infrastructure to ease access

The CM stated the Phase-II development was completed at a cost of ₹121 crore.
The announcement underlined the project's role in expanding the state's capacity to host IT and technology companies, and in creating more local employment and business opportunities. Mr Sangma pointed out that several companies from across the state have already occupied or taken space in the park, naming StaffFlex and Shamrock AI among the tenants.

He highlighted the presence of other infrastructure interventions intended to improve connectivity to the park and reduce travel times.

Connectivity and wider investments cited by the Chief Minister
At the inauguration, the Chief Minister said the Shillong Airport will be approximately a 20-minute drive from the Tech Park, improving access for business visitors. He also referred to two large-scale road and connectivity figures, stating allocations of ₹24,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore for works tied to the Guwahati Express Highway and related connectivity measures aimed at ensuring Guwahati can be reached within about 90 minutes.
In addition to commercial space, Mr Sangma announced civic and recreational projects planned for the area, including a football stadium estimated at ₹700 crore and a new Secretariat at New Shillong that is scheduled to begin implementation in August 2027. He noted that earlier phases and related amenities such as a five-star hotel have not fully materialised to date, underlining that the Tech Park’s development remains a continuing priority.
| Project | Detail | Cost (as announced) |
|---|---|---|
| Shillong Technology Park Phase II | Grade-A Office Space, 1.8 lakh sq ft | ₹121 crore |
| Football stadium | New stadium within development | ₹700 crore |

Local technology companies occupying the new Grade-A spaces were highlighted as evidence of local demand. The Chief Minister said the park will help retain and attract talent within the state and support companies wanting to scale operations without relocating outside Meghalaya.
Analysts and business observers often treat the availability of quality office space and reliable connectivity as major factors in whether firms expand in smaller cities. By providing a mix of commercial infrastructure and linking it with transport and civic projects, state authorities aim to make New Shillong Township a more attractive base for IT and allied sectors.
The inauguration continues a policy push that the state has pursued since the earlier conceptions of an IT park. Officials framed Phase II as a significant step towards delivering on long-standing plans to build an ecosystem for innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-led employment in the region.
