The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2026 will return on November 20 and 21 at a new permanent site, the New Shillong Highland Grounds, organisers and government officials said on Tuesday. The festival's first announced international headliners are Khalid, Swae Lee and pop-punk band Boys Like Girls, with two more major international acts to be unveiled soon.
New permanent venue to host large-scale events
The Meghalaya government has allocated the New Shillong Highland Grounds as a dedicated venue for large festivals, concerts and events, officials said. Located about 30 minutes from Shillong, the new site is expected to ease access for audiences travelling from across Meghalaya, neighbouring Assam and other nearby regions, including visitors coming via the Jowai route.
Authorities said a comprehensive traffic and mobility plan will be implemented during the festival weekend to manage the anticipated influx of attendees and reduce congestion on approach roads.
International line-up and ticketing
American R&B and pop singer Khalid — a seven-time Grammy nominee known for hits such as "Young, Dumb & Broke" — is among the confirmed headliners. Rapper Swae Lee, noted for his work with Rae Sremmurd and the track "Sunflower" from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, and US pop-punk outfit Boys Like Girls were also announced.
Organisers said two additional international headliners will be confirmed shortly, bringing the total number of major international acts this year to five.
