Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday visited R R Colony in Rynjah to inspect damage to the bust of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose that was vandalised recently and announced that ₹5 lakh has been sanctioned for its restoration.

Sangma, in a post on X, said he had gone to the locality to see the “unfortunate damage” and that funds have been released for repair work. He reiterated the administration’s strong opposition to any acts of vandalism and warned against forces that could disturb the peace and unity of the city and the State.
