Windsor job fair draws about 1,300 people as employers seek workers across sectors

About 1,300 people attended a Windsor job fair at the Caboto Club where 35 employers from manufacturing to healthcare met job seekers, highlighting persistent local demand for workers after a separate Costco event drew more than 1,100 attendees.

Windsor’s employment landscape was on display Thursday as hundreds of residents converged on the Caboto Club to meet employers from across the region. The event, hosted by Workforce WindsorEssex under the Windsor Regional Employment Network banner, attracted an estimated 1,300 people seeking work, information and interviews.

Employers from multiple industries take part

Organizers said 35 employers attended, representing a cross-section of the local economy including manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture and retail. Companies and organisations on hand included Costco, Anchor Danly, Caesars Windsor, the City of Windsor, ENWIN, Erie Shores HealthCare, Ford, Minth Group, Nature Fresh Farms, the OPP, Schlegel Villages and Windsor Regional Hospital.

While some employers such as Costco conducted on-the-spot interviews, many were accepting resumes and talking directly with prospective employees. Workforce WindsorEssex officials noted the mix of candidates ran the gamut from people seeking their first job to experienced workers exploring a change.

“We’re hearing a little bit of everything,”

said Aaron Fauteux, Service Innovation Lead at Workforce WindsorEssex. He added the crowd included those currently unemployed, people aiming for better roles and applicants with limited experience hoping for entry-level positions.

Demand felt across entry-level and skilled roles

Fauteux pointed out several employers drew significant lines, particularly for roles that typically start at entry level. He cited examples including the hospital and Minth Group among those attracting large numbers of job seekers. The turnout at the Caboto Club followed another busy recruitment event in the city: a Costco job fair at the Serbian Centre the previous day that reportedly drew more than 1,100 people.

  • Employers: 35 organisations across multiple sectors

The two back-to-back events underline the ongoing competition for workers in Windsor and Essex County and the demand among residents for stable employment. Employers face the twin tasks of filling immediate openings and presenting roles that can attract and retain staff amid a tight labour market.

For Windsor residents, these events offer immediate access to employers and information on hiring paths — from entry-level positions to more specialised opportunities. For businesses, the fairs are a chance to connect with a broad pool of talent in person, screen applicants and highlight the types of roles available in a changing local economy.

Organisers with Workforce WindsorEssex say they will continue coordinating local hiring initiatives through the Windsor Regional Employment Network as employers and job seekers navigate a competitive labour market. Follow-up events and employer outreach will be critical in translating this visible interest into sustained hires and longer-term workforce stability for the region.
