Ride together. Give back. Make a difference. Those three imperatives form the spine of an annual tradition that brings Ontario real estate professionals onto the road to raise funds for people struggling with housing and food insecurity.
“Ride together. Give back. Make a difference.”
Now in its 19th year, the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation Motorcycle Ride for Charity will take place Sept. 23–24, when dozens of REALTORS® will travel more than 850 kilometres through Eastern Ontario. The event’s stated purpose is to raise money for shelter-related initiatives and programs that tackle food insecurity across the province.
From city office towers to rural storefronts
The ride stitches together urban and rural communities, reflecting how housing and food challenges are not confined to any one part of the province. Organizers say the issues affect families, seniors and working people — neighbours in downtown high-rises as well as residents of small towns and rural hamlets.
For many participants, the two‑day run is about more than fundraising. It is an opportunity to build professional ties across municipal and regional boundaries. Riders can start a day beside a colleague from Aurora and finish in conversation with someone from Peterborough, St. Catharines or Ottawa — encounters that organisers and participants describe as valuable for both personal and professional networks.
- Purpose: Raise funds for shelter-related causes and food insecurity programs.
- When: Sept. 23–24 (two days).
- Distance: More than 850 kilometres through Eastern Ontario.
- Participants: REALTORS® from across the province.
Practical impact on local services
Charitable rides such as this one funnel money and awareness into local agencies that provide emergency shelter, transitional housing and food programs. While the ride's organisers emphasise the relational and networking benefits for participants, the funds raised go directly to groups delivering front-line services.
In Ontario, shelters and food providers report persistent demand as rental costs remain high in many regions and inflation squeezes household budgets. Events that mobilize professional associations can provide badly needed support for operating costs, meal programs and short-term housing solutions, particularly during the colder months when demand typically rises.
What riders say they gain
Beyond the fundraising totals, riders point to the human side of the project: shared time on the road, conversations at stopping points, and a sense of purpose that extends their role as community builders. Real estate is described by organisers as fundamentally a relationship business; the Ride for Charity leverages those relationships for a public-good outcome.
That social capital — REALTORS® meeting colleagues from different markets — also has practical value. It can open doors to cross‑market referrals and local partnerships that benefit clients and communities alike, but on this weekend the point is to transform that professional network into a source of support for vulnerable neighbours.

As the province heads into the cooler months, the donations generated by events such as this one can make an immediate difference: funding meal programs, helping shelters cover operational expenses and supporting transitional services that connect people to longer‑term housing solutions.
For Ontarians watching from both sides of the urban–rural divide, the ride is a reminder that charitable efforts often depend on networks and professions stepping up in organised ways. The motorcycle convoy is as much a public demonstration of solidarity as it is a fundraising mechanism; for many riders, it is a weekend spent turning professional camaraderie into tangible help for neighbours in need.
