ERMELO — Eight people, including two minors, were killed in a head-on collision on the N17 toll road between Ermelo and Davel early on Sunday morning, provincial authorities confirmed.

The crash occurred at about 01:30 on the stretch of the N17 near the Ermelo Toll Plaza. The collision involved a Toyota sedan and a Volkswagen sedan. Seven of the deceased were occupants of the Volkswagen; the Toyota driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was the eighth person to die. No further injuries were reported at the scene.
