The planned return of the Llandudno Christmas Extravaganza this November has been cancelled, organisers confirmed on Monday, as a combination of rising costs and a recent spate of trader withdrawals left the event financially unviable.
Decision follows stalls pulling out and unpaid fees
The festive weekend, which had been due to take place from 19–22 November after a two-year absence, will not go ahead. The event, first launched in 2021 and featuring food and craft stalls, vintage fairground rides, exhibitions and live music, had been announced as returning earlier this year.
In a statement, organisers said they had faced a "significant number of stall holder cancellations, alongside delays and outstanding payments from a number of confirmed traders". They added that the withdrawals and unpaid fees left them unable to meet the substantial costs required to stage the event to the expected standard.
"As a not-for-profit organisation, we have to ensure that the event is financially viable and that the necessary funds are in place to cover essential costs such as infrastructure, entertainment, security, licensing and other operational requirements."
The group said the decision had been made with "great disappointment" and apologised to stall holders and the public for any inconvenience caused. They confirmed any trader who had already paid would be given a full refund.
Local impact and next steps
The cancellation will be felt across the local community. For small businesses and independent makers who rely on seasonal markets to boost sales, the loss of four days of trading is a tangible blow. For the town’s wider hospitality and retail sectors, the event would normally deliver additional footfall during the quieter autumn period.
Organisers emphasised they had attempted to proceed but could not responsibly underwrite the shortfall. They listed essential outgoings such as infrastructure, entertainment, security and licensing among the costs needing cover to deliver the event.
- Event originally planned: 19–22 November 2026
- Main reasons for cancellation: trader cancellations, delayed and unpaid stall fees, and high operational costs
- Offer to affected traders: full refunds for those who have already paid
For residents who had been planning to attend, the organisers stressed that their decision had been reached only after considering the financial risks involved in continuing.
What remains in the events calendar
Despite the cancellation, the organisers confirmed that the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza is still scheduled to return over the early May bank holiday weekend of 1–3 May 2027. That longer-standing event was originally introduced after the older Christmas Fayre—which ran for 15 years—was discontinued.

Community groups and businesses in Llandudno now face the task of replanning for the winter season without the boost the event would have provided. Some may redirect efforts towards independent markets and in‑town promotions, while others will wait for further announcements from the event organisers about any replacement activity or support for affected traders.
Organisers reiterated their gratitude for support to date and expressed regret at the turn of events. They declined to outline any alternative dates for a Christmas event this year but said refunds would be processed for paid stall holders.
For many people here, the loss is not just commercial: seasonal events are a social fixture that knit together coastal communities. The news will disappoint residents who look forward to the seasonal lights, family attractions and the bustle that such a weekend brings to Llandudno’s seafront and streets.
