Odisha agency says constable recruitment process has begun; formal advertisement to follow

The Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission on Saturday said it has initiated recruitment for constable-level posts and is expediting the Combined Police Services Examination process, even as political leaders press for a fresh CPSE date following last year’s paper leak.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) on Saturday announced that it has initiated the process for recruitment to constable-level posts in the Odisha Police and other uniformed services, signalling fresh movement on a stalled exercise that was disrupted after a paper leak.

Commission to issue detailed advertisement soon

In an official statement, the Commission said a detailed advertisement for the recruitment will be issued shortly and that steps are being taken on priority to expedite the Combined Police Services Examination (CPSE)-2024, for which applications have already been received.

“The Commission further informs that necessary steps are being taken on priority for expediting the examination process for the Combined Police Services Examination (CPSE)-2024, for which applications have already been received,” the OUSSSC said.

The OUSSSC also said it will communicate important information only through authorised channels and its website, which it said will be live shortly. The body was constituted after the earlier recruitment process was cancelled in the wake of the paper leak in 2025.

Political pressure and public concern

BJD president Naveen Patnaik had earlier raised questions over the delay in conducting the CPSE and urged the State government to declare a fresh date for the examination. The criticism came amid political exchanges over recent recruitments and training ceremonies.

State leaders highlighted that while one batch of sub-inspectors has completed training and received appointments, thousands of aspirants continue to await clarity on the resumption of examinations and selections disrupted by the leak. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday presided over the convocation of the 13th batch of sub-inspectors, where he took the salute.

What the Commission has said and what aspirants should watch for

  • OUSSSC has officially started the recruitment process for constable-level posts.
  • A detailed recruitment advertisement will be published soon; aspirants should follow only authorised channels for updates.
  • The Commission is taking measures to expedite the CPSE-2024, for which applications are already on record.

As the OUSSSC moves forward, aspirants are advised to monitor the Commission’s official communications and the soon-to-be-live website for verified notices, application procedures, timelines and exam schedules.

Background and timeline

The OUSSSC was created after a high-profile paper leak in 2025 led to the cancellation of the recruitment process for several uniformed posts. That disruption left many candidates uncertain about their prospects and the schedule of examinations. The Commission’s Saturday statement attempts to reassure applicants that the recruitment and examination processes are being advanced while safeguarding the integrity of the system.

Event Details (as reported)
Paper leak and cancellation Recruitment cancelled in 2025 following leak
Formation of OUSSSC Commission constituted to oversee uniformed services recruitment
CPSE-2024 applications Applications already received; process being expedited
Recent SI convocation 13th batch of sub-inspectors completed training and was handed appointments

Practical guidance for candidates

Given the sensitivity around past irregularities, candidates should take the following precautions:

  • Verify any recruitment notice against the Commission’s authorised releases before taking action or paying fees.
  • Retain digital and physical copies of application receipts and acknowledgement slips.
  • Prepare for the examination while awaiting the formal advertisement; ensure required documents are current (educational certificates, identity proofs, domicile documents).

The OUSSSC has emphasised that it is committed to conducting recruitment with due regard to fairness and the interests of candidates. As the process unfolds, timely, verified updates from the Commission will be crucial for restoring confidence among aspirants and the public.
