Campus expansion set to meet rising demand for hospitality talent in Gurugram

The Indian School of Hospitality (ISH) has announced a significant expansion of its Gurugram campus at INXT City Centre in Sector 83, nearly doubling its present footprint as it prepares to enlarge undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education capacity. The project, aligned with ISH’s 2030 vision, will be delivered in two phases over the next three years, the institute said.

ISH will fit out three additional floors within its existing building, adding about 75,000 sq. ft. to take the campus area to approximately 150,000 sq. ft. Student capacity is expected to rise from around 550 at present to about 1,200 after completion.

Item Current Post-expansion
Campus area ~75,000 sq. ft. ~150,000 sq. ft.
Additional floors — 3 floors
Student capacity ~550 ~1,200

Facilities and focus areas

According to ISH, the enlarged campus will offer an expanded mix of academic and practical facilities to support the hospitality, tourism, aviation, luxury, retail and wider experience economy. Planned additions include:

  • Teaching spaces and faculty work areas
  • Professional kitchens for culinary training
  • Incubation and innovation labs and research and specialist centres
  • Student communal areas and dedicated facilities for executive, professional and continuing education

The institute said the expansion responds to a growing demand for skilled talent across India’s hospitality and allied sectors and is intended to build both physical and academic capacity, as well as human capital for industry leadership roles.

"India is one of the world’s most dynamic hospitality and culinary markets, and ISH is exceptionally well positioned to help shape the next generation of talent it requires. This expansion reflects the continued development of ISH and further cements its market-leading position in India," said Spencer Coles, CEO of Sommet Education.

ISH is part of the Sommet Education group, and the institute highlighted collaborative links with Swiss hospitality and French culinary brands within the network as part of its offering. The school said these connections will bring international academic practices, industry links and facilities to students in Gurugram.

Kunal Vasudeva, Co‑Founder and Managing Director of the Indian School of Hospitality, said the expansion is aimed at addressing a gap between the pace at which the hospitality sector is adding capacity and the development of leadership and talent to manage that growth. He described the project as a step to build academic and human capacity to meet industry needs.

Local impact and context

The enlargement of ISH’s Gurugram campus could affect multiple local stakeholders. Increasing student numbers and training facilities may raise demand for housing, local services and internships with hotels and experience‑economy firms operating in and around Gurugram and the National Capital Region. For prospective students in and near Gurugram, the expanded campus will provide more seats for hospitality and culinary programmes within the city rather than requiring study overseas or in other Indian cities.

The institute has set a three‑year timeline for the two‑phase project; construction and fit‑out schedules, course intake increments and specific placement arrangements were not disclosed. ISH said dedicated facilities will support executive and continuing education, signalling an emphasis on mid‑career training as well as fresh graduate programmes.

Officials from ISH and Sommet Education provided the expansion details in the announcement. No information on project cost or timelines for individual phases was released with the statement.
