State issues immediate transfers for senior police officers
The Haryana government has ordered the immediate transfer of 29 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and one Haryana Police Service (HPS) officer, according to an official transfer notification released on Thursday. The changes reassign several senior functionaries across headquarters, ranges and district postings.
The order named officers moved into new responsibilities at the level of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), and Superintendent of Police (SP), as well as changes among deputy commissioners of police (DCP) in urban centres.

Among the prominent appointments, Amitabh Dhillon has been posted as ADGP, Modernisation and Welfare. He will additionally hold the charge of ADGP, Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), and ADGP, Traffic and Highways, the order said.

Administration says transfers effective immediately
The changes were formalised through the government order issued on Thursday and take effect with immediate implementation. The notification restructures leadership across both city policing units and specialised wings, signalling an administrative move to refresh command responsibilities ahead of upcoming operational priorities.
Police deployments and additional charges are common administrative actions driven by operational needs, vacancies, training requirements and deputation returns. The order shifts several officers between district and range-level appointments and reassigns stewardship of training and specialised units.
Officials at Police Headquarters will oversee the rollout of the postings and ensure continuity of policing services during the transition period, the transfer order notes.
