According to a statement released by the finance ministry, officers intercepted an Indian woman travelling by train from New Delhi to Bengaluru. In a separate, unrelated operation the same day, DRI officers at Pune Junction intercepted another Indian woman arriving from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Delhi. Her baggage reportedly contained about 2.53 kg of a white/yellow crystalline material purported to be amphetamine, and tablets weighing 878 grams said to be 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). The contraband was seized under the NDPS Act and the passenger was arrested, the ministry statement said.
"In two intelligence-led operations on August 25, DRI seized around 14.9 kg of amphetamine in Bengaluru and 2.53 kg of amphetamine along with 878 grams of MDMA tablets in Pune," the finance ministry said.
