Halton Regional Police have released surveillance footage showing three people police want to speak to in connection with the March homicide of an Oakville businessman found dead inside his shop.

Surveillance shows three people entering and leaving building

The video, taken on March 22, captures activity in the rear parking lot and alleyway of 145 Lakeshore Rd. E. at about 12:06 p.m. The footage shows a man carrying a gift bag with yellow tissue paper walk into the alleyway and enter the building through a side door. Seconds later two other people exit a parked vehicle and follow him inside. At 1:39 p.m. all three are seen leaving through the same alleyway door and getting into a vehicle investigators have described as a black Kia Forte.

Halton police said they were called about the scene at 5:30 p.m. to Montagio Custom Tailoring, located at Suite 301 of that address, where a man was found dead. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Baljeet “Bally” Toki of Oakville. His death was later classified as a homicide; police have not publicly released a cause of death.

Police describe three suspects, ask public for help

Investigators issued descriptions of the three people captured in the footage and are asking anyone who recognises them or who has information about the incident to come forward.

  • Suspect 1: White male, about six feet tall, slim build, short hair. Clothing: grey sports/suit jacket, darker-coloured pants, white high-top shoes, and a distinctive baseball-style cap with a camouflage back and a dark front bearing a circular logo.
  • Suspect 2: Black male, slim build, shorter than suspect 1. Clothing: blue hoody, dark-coloured pants and white shoes.
  • Suspect 3: Black male, slim build, similar height to suspect 2. Clothing: dark-coloured clothing and black shoes with distinctive red laces; carrying a cross-body bag with a red stripe through the middle of the strap.

The footage and descriptions have not yet led to arrests, and police did not provide additional details about a possible motive or the exact cause of death.

Local consequences and community concern

The murder of a well-known small-business owner has rippled through the Lakeshore Road business community, where shopkeepers rely on foot traffic and local customers. Montagio Custom Tailoring is located in a strip of small retailers and professional offices that are typically busy during midday hours. Residents and business owners say a visible police appeal and the release of video evidence can help reassure the public, but also underscore concerns about safety in areas once considered low-risk.

Police statements indicate the investigation remains active. Investigators are relying on members of the public to identify the three people pictured and the black Kia Forte, or to provide any information about the movements of the vehicle and individuals on March 22. No contact number or email address was released in the footage advisory.
