The Niagara Regional Police Service says a 30-year-old woman wanted in connection with the July fatal shooting of a Niagara Falls man has been arrested in Montreal and will be returned to Niagara to face a second-degree murder charge.

Arrest in Montreal

Police said Josta Grace MacNeal was arrested on Thursday, 27 August 2026, by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). She is accused in the death of 35-year-old Mitchell Snoddon, who was shot at a home on Thorold Stone Road near Dorchester Road on the evening of 16 July.

Snoddon was transported to hospital following the shooting but later died from his injuries. Police say two people attended the residence that night and that investigators have been working to locate both suspects since the incident.

One suspect remains on the run

Authorities continue to seek 23-year-old Maaroof Bangi, who is subject to a Canada-wide warrant. Police have warned the public that no firearm believed to be connected to the homicide has been recovered and that Bangi should be considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators are urging anyone who sees Bangi not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.

Police also urged the suspect to contact a lawyer and turn himself in. Members of the public with information are being asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service directly or to use anonymous tip lines.

Local context and impact

The arrest in Montreal closes a visible gap in the investigation for residents who have been following the case since mid-July. Still, the presence of an outstanding suspect described as possibly armed is likely to keep the community on edge, particularly in the neighbourhood around Thorold Stone Road where the shooting took place.

Niagara Falls straddles a mix of urban and suburban areas, and violent incidents such as this one often prompt renewed calls from neighbours for greater police visibility and faster case resolution. Investigators say they will continue to pursue all leads in an effort to locate the outstanding suspect and recover any weaponry connected to the homicide.

For community members, the police advisory is straightforward: do not approach the wanted man if you see him and call emergency services immediately. Those with information that could assist investigators are asked to come forward through the contact points listed above.

The Niagara Regional Police Service provided the details in a news release on the arrest and the outstanding warrant. Additional updates will follow as the case progresses through the justice system and as police release further information.
