A Milton man has been formally charged following a collision earlier this year that critically injured two paramedics. The Central Hastings detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says the incident occurred on Feb. 2, 2026, at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62 in Madoc.
Shortly after 3 p.m. that day, OPP members responded to a two-vehicle collision involving an ambulance and a transport truck. Two paramedics were taken to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted by ORNGE to a Kingston-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, according to the police statement released as part of the ongoing investigation.

Local residents were not given additional details by police about factors such as weather, speed, road conditions or whether any mechanical issues were involved. The Crown Prosecutor's office will outline the case at the scheduled court appearance in Belleville.
For Milton residents, the case underscores how traffic incidents on provincial highways can have serious consequences not only for drivers but also for frontline emergency responders. Ambulance crews routinely operate in high-risk conditions, including high-speed responses and manoeuvres through intersections. When collisions occur, they often involve complex investigations crossing municipal and provincial jurisdictions.
Central Hastings OPP continues to handle the investigation into the February crash. Anyone with information about the collision or dash-cam footage from the area on the afternoon of Feb. 2, 2026, is asked to contact the detachment.
We will monitor court proceedings and any further releases from police or ORNGE and provide updates as more facts become available.
