“This is a huge upheaval to workers’ lives. This affects childcare. This affects second jobs. This affects folks that are operating in a one‑vehicle household. People are devastated right now.”
Under the new arrangement, postal workers living in Mission will be expected to travel to Abbotsford to begin their work day, return to Mission to complete deliveries and then travel back to Abbotsford to finish their shift before heading home. Backus highlighted the practical burdens of daily travel across the Mission Bridge and said routes will need to be restructured.
