Huntington Beach police arrested three adults and detained several juveniles Saturday after responding to multiple calls about a large group of pocket bike riders riding recklessly through a residential and commercial corridor, authorities said.

According to a statement from the Huntington Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 2 p.m. Saturday to the area of Edinger Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street following numerous reports of reckless driving by riders on miniature motorcycles commonly known as pocket bikes.
"When officers responded, most of the riders took off before officers could make contact. But not everyone got away."
Police said officers detained two juveniles who were driving pocket bikes and arrested their mother on suspicion of child endangerment because she "knowingly allowed her kids to drive recklessly, knowing they could be seriously hurt or die," the statement said.
In a separate contact, a man was taken into custody after falling from his pocket bike. He was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, the department said.

Police added that another juvenile arrived on a pocket bike while officers were conducting their investigation. That juvenile's father encouraged the activity and was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
