Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent appeal after a woman in her 20s was raped in a doorway in Covent Garden in the early hours of Saturday 22 August. The victim managed to flee the scene and reported the attack to police shortly afterwards. She is receiving specialist support.
Police release CCTV image and describe suspect
Officers say the woman was approached by an unknown man as she walked through the busy streets around Shaftesbury Avenue, Cambridge Circus and Drury Lane before the assault took place in Macklin Street at about 5.20am.
The Met has issued a CCTV image and footage of a man they wish to identify. He is described as white, aged between 25 and 35, with short dark hair.
