Rising water levels in the Ganga have caused riverbank erosion at several locations in Danapur, putting lives and property at risk, state Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said on Monday after touring affected stretches with officials and party workers.
Administration mobilises relief and connectivity measures
Yadav said the district administration has been instructed to ensure that residents of flood-hit and isolated villages do not face shortages of essentials or barriers to reaching safe sites. The minister asked officials to deploy boats where rising water has disrupted road access and to arrange ration supplies to localities that have become fully cut off.
"Floodwaters have entered several areas. Today, I toured the affected areas alongside officials and party workers. Erosion is occurring at multiple locations, increasing the risk of loss of life and property," Yadav said.
He added that shelters have already been set up at some locations and directed that preparations at these sites be strengthened so that flood-affected people "face no difficulties". Yadav also noted the continuing role of government-run boat services in maintaining connectivity for people living in vulnerable belts along the river.

Danapur Sub-Divisional Officer Anirudh Pandey told officials the recent rise in the Ganga's water level has been the immediate cause of erosion in the area.
