Global industrial software firm expands Hyderabad footprint
US-headquartered industrial technology company Octave Intelligence plc on Wednesday inaugurated a new Technology and Innovation Centre in Hyderabad's HITEC City, signalling a significant expansion of the city’s software engineering and AI ecosystem. The facility, spread across 2 lakh sq ft, is projected to scale up to 2,000 engineers in the coming years, a company release said.
The centre will support Octave’s global technology and innovation operations, with activity planned across software engineering, artificial intelligence, data, cloud and product development. The site also includes an Experience Centre to showcase the company’s connected, contextual intelligence solutions and technology capabilities, the release added.
- Facility size: 2 lakh sq ft
- Planned headcount: 2,000 engineers
- Key focus areas: AI, data, cloud, software engineering, product development
The inauguration was attended by Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, alongside Octave’s Chief Executive Officer Mattias Stenberg and Sekhar Konidena, Vice President, Product and Services, Octave India, together with other senior leaders, the company said.
"Hyderabad is increasingly becoming the first choice for global companies establishing their first GCCs and entering India," D Sridhar Babu said, noting the city welcomed 75 new Global Capability Centres last year and is targeting 100 more by next year.
Implications for Hyderabad's tech ecosystem
Octave’s new centre adds to HITEC City’s dense cluster of global technology operations and GCCs that have chosen Hyderabad for engineering and innovation work. The company characterised the location as a strategic base for its next phase of growth; the release quoted CEO Mattias Stenberg saying the Hyderabad centre was an "exceptional location to continue the company's next phase of growth." Sekhar Konidena said the facility will deepen Octave’s capabilities across software engineering, AI, data, cloud and product development, with teams contributing to products and platforms used by customers worldwide.
For local professionals and graduates, the stated target of 2,000 engineers represents a potential boost to employment opportunities in specialised technology roles. The stated emphasis on AI, data and cloud aligns with Hyderabad’s ongoing efforts to diversify the skills and services available within its GCC and start-up ecosystems.
What Octave does
Octave develops industrial software that combines data, AI and engineering expertise to assist organisations in managing complex operations and assets, the release said. The new centre is intended to support global product development and innovation for those offerings.
