Public invited to view plans for 42-bed addition at Good Shepherd’s Lodge
The Inn of the Good Shepherd will host a public information session in Sarnia next month to outline plans to expand Good Shepherd’s Lodge, the city’s primary emergency shelter.
The open house is set for Sept. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army building at 970 Confederation St., adjacent to the shelter. Organizers are encouraging residents to pre-register online at innsarnia.ca/calendar.
The planned expansion would add 42 beds to the Lodge. Earlier this year, Lambton County council agreed to provide about $990,000 from reserves to support the project. The Inn has said the addition will allow it to close an overflow shelter that is currently operating out of a former church on Exmouth Street.
