POLOKWANE — Seven suspects were arrested and a range of exhibits recovered during two intelligence-driven operations carried out by the Public Order Police (POP) in the Ga-Hlahla Village area and other parts of the Seshego policing precinct on Saturday, 22 August, Limpopo SAPS reported.
Operations focused on crime disruption and illegal immigration
The POP operations targeted criminal activity and the trade in illicit goods after information was operationalised, according to Limpopo SAPS. The actions form part of the provincial police’s ongoing efforts to disrupt local illegal markets and to address contraventions of immigration legislation.
Police said the work unfolded in two separate but related actions within the Capricorn District. Members recovered drugs and ammunition, impounded a vehicle suspected of being used in criminal activity, and arrested individuals alleged to be in the country unlawfully.
What was seized and who was arrested
During the first operation at Ga-Hlahla Village a 33-year-old man was arrested for the unlawful possession of ammunition and dealing in dagga. Officers recovered six rounds of ammunition — two R5 rounds and four 9mm rounds — and dagga together with other exhibits with an estimated combined value of R150 000, Limpopo SAPS reported.
In the same sweep, three additional suspects — two men and one woman aged between 27 and 33 — were detained for alleged contraventions of the Immigration Act. Police identified them as nationals of Eswatini.
In a separate operation within the same policing area, a 35-year-old foreign man was arrested for possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes. Police recovered illicit cigarettes with an estimated value of R850. A 31-year-old man was also arrested for possession and dealing in dagga and other drugs; officers recovered dagga estimated at R30 000 and other drugs estimated at R500. Officers also seized undisclosed cash and a vehicle with Gauteng registration believed to be linked to the offences, which is estimated to be worth R90 000.
Another suspect, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on a charge of police interference during the operations. All seven suspects were detained at Seshego Police Station and the exhibits handed over for further investigation, Limpopo SAPS said.

Court appearance and policing context
All seven suspects were expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 August, Limpopo SAPS reported. The arrests and seizures will now form part of criminal and immigration investigations carried out by the relevant units.
