Why the recall was issued
Taylor Farms said the recall of its finished products is connected to a recall of fresh jalapeños distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors. The company identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, that supplied jalapeños to Coast Citrus as a potential source associated with the outbreak and said it has stopped sourcing from that grower.
"Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older people and those with weakened immune systems," the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says.
