A new specialty coffee shop has opened in Carrollton, bringing a curated menu of signature drinks, light bites and a bright, minimalist interior to the East Belt Line Road corridor.

Local entrepreneurs open café near Addison border

Nūr Coffee opened at 2741 E. Belt Line Rd., Ste. 107, close to the Carrollton–Addison line. The café is owned by a team whose backgrounds include professional sports, beauty entrepreneurship and food-service experience: Cedric Ogbuehi, a former NFL player; Onyi Odunukwe, CEO of Glo Tanning; and Lisa Nguyen, a longtime açai shop owner and wellness expert.

The name, Nūr, means “light” in Arabic and reflects the owners’ intention to create a welcoming, calming spot for customers. The interior was designed by local designer Angela Chantell and emphasizes natural light, soft cream tones and a mix of communal and individual seating to foster both quick visits and longer stays.

“We wanted to create a peaceful, calming space where people don’t feel rushed,”

The shop’s beverage program blends classic espresso offerings with signature, seasonal and tea-based drinks. In addition to lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, pour-overs and drip coffee, Nūr highlights a set of house specialties and rotating seasonal features.

  • Signature drinks feature vanilla cold foam and creative flavor pairings such as cinnamon, caramel and fruit blends.
  • Seasonal offerings currently include a Blackberry Cobbler Matcha and a Lychee-Tini Matcha made with coconut water.
  • Tea options include a dessert-style Earl Grey latte called the Daydream.

Menu highlights and partnerships

Nūr uses coffee beans from Viewfinder Coffee Roasters and pairs its drinks with a small food menu built around English muffins and wellness-forward items. Menu examples listed at opening include avocado smash, creamy salmon, banana brûlée and a Tokyo egg muffin. The café also offers açai bowls and fruit-and-nut wellness cups. Baked goods such as cinnamon rolls and cookies are supplied by local bakery partner Commissary.

The shop plans to keep the menu dynamic with monthly limited-edition drops and a membership program designed for frequent customers. A membership option was announced at opening for $59 per month and provides unlimited daily coffee.

Drink Main components
Golden Muse Vanilla latte, caramel drizzle, vanilla cold foam
Be Someone's Light Latte Vanilla, cinnamon, extra espresso shot, vanilla cold foam
Blush Matcha Ceremonial-grade matcha, mixed berries, vanilla cold foam

Owners said they aimed to build a neighborhood destination that balances high-quality beverages with a calm environment for working or socializing. With its location on East Belt Line, Nūr is positioned to serve daytime office workers, nearby residents and shoppers along the busy thoroughfare.

For Carrollton residents, the café adds another local option in a competitive market of specialty coffee shops and quick-service cafés. Its membership model and monthly menu rotations are likely to appeal to regular customers; partnering with a local bakery also helps position Nūr within Carrollton’s growing network of neighborhood food businesses.

The café’s soft palette and intentional seating choices emphasize lingering and community, a contrast to grab-and-go concepts. Nūr’s owners said the space is intended as a place where customers can slow down, enjoy a carefully prepared drink and return for new seasonal items each month.

As the new shop settles into the neighborhood, Carrollton residents can expect rotating drink offerings, collaboration drops and the chance to enroll in the $59-per-month unlimited coffee membership announced at opening.
