Miller Homes Teesside has donated £2,000 to The Junction Foundation, the Redcar-area charity that supports young carers and their families, the company announced after reading the charity’s application to its twice-yearly Community Fund.
Funding to help mark young carers’ contribution
The money has been earmarked to help host the charity’s Young Carers Celebration, an event at which young carers are invited to a lunch and public recognition of the care they provide to family members. Representatives from Miller Homes attended the celebration at Pinchinthorpe Hall, Guisborough, where they saw the work of the charity first-hand.
Donna Clark, Sales Director at Miller Homes Yorkshire, said:
“When we read the application from The Junction Foundation to our Community Fund we knew we had to support them. The work they do is so important and delivers such a huge impact on so many families and young people, it is most admirable and we believe a valued part of our community.”

Local charity says business support is vital
Rebecca Jones, Fundraising and Events Manager for The Junction Foundation, thanked Miller Homes for the donation and highlighted the importance of partnerships with local businesses.
“Having support from businesses in our community is vital to our ongoing work and we thank Miller Homes for their donation. We look forward to working with them in the future as we continue to deliver this vital service for our community and young people.”
The Junction Foundation, established in 1991, provides a range of services intended to offer holistic support to children, young people and families, working from the needs of those who approach it. The organisation said the funding would contribute to its ongoing programmes and to staging celebratory events for young carers.
Part of a wider Community Fund distribution
Miller Homes described the donation as part of its twice-yearly Community Fund. On this occasion, other local projects receiving support included:

Donna Clark said it had been a pleasure for members of the Miller Homes team to attend the event and witness the charity’s activity at close quarters. In company comments following the presentation she also noted the builder had sponsored the charity’s inaugural golf day.
“It was a pleasure for some of the team to attend this event and see first-hand the work that they do. Thank you to the team and all guests for making us feel so welcome, and we are proud to have also sponsored their inaugural charity golf day.”
