Bodycare returns to Derby with expanded offer and free Creator Studio

Bodycare will reopen in Derby this weekend with the launch of a new next‑generation Studio Store at Derbion, the retailer and shopping centre have announced. The store is scheduled to open on Saturday 22 August and will be the first Bodycare Studio Store in the East Midlands and the second such outlet nationally following a debut in Sheffield.

The opening forms part of Bodycare’s wider relaunch and national expansion programme. The company has set out an ambition to reach 15 Studio Stores by the end of 2026, and to operate more than 150 locations across the UK over the next five years.

The new Derbion shop rounds out the retailer’s traditional value‑led health and beauty offer with a broader selection of skincare, cosmetics, fragrance and wellness products. The store will also stock K‑Beauty ranges, feature a professional piercing studio and sell Technic cosmetics.

  • Opening date: Saturday 22 August
  • Location: Derbion shopping centre, Derby
  • Format: Next‑generation ‘Studio Store’ (second in UK; first in East Midlands)
  • Facilities: K‑Beauty ranges, professional piercing studio, Technic cosmetics, free Creator Studio

A central feature of the new concept is a free‑to‑use Creator Studio inside the shop. Bodycare says the content creation space will be available to local creators, charities and community groups, providing professional facilities to create and share content about Derby and its communities.

“Derby is known across centuries for giving people the resources and equipment to make something valuable. That is what we are doing with the Creator Studio,” said Bodycare chief executive Charles Denton. “It is a professional broadcast studio inside a shop, free to anyone in Derby who wants to use it.”

Derbion managing director Beth McDonald welcomed the arrival of Bodycare and highlighted the community value of the Creator Studio. She said:

“We’re hugely excited to welcome Bodycare back to Derbion with a brand new concept store. As well as offering exceptional value for customers, the Creator Studio will be a brilliant addition which is sure to prove extremely popular with our local community here in Derby.”

What the store means for Derby shoppers and local creators

The Studio Store model is intended to turn shops into destinations for product discovery and live content as well as traditional retail. According to Bodycare, studios sit “at the heart” of the format, with the aim of combining retail with live content, creator experiences and expert‑led brand events.

For Derby residents this brings two immediate changes: a widening of the town centre’s health and beauty offer and new free facilities for those producing digital content. Community groups and charities are explicitly named as potential users of the Creator Studio, which could provide practical production space without the overheads of hiring external studios.

The Derbion shopping centre has seen several new retailers join this year, the centre’s management said, and Bodycare was described as the latest addition with further announcements expected. The retailer’s relaunch and expansion plans suggest more openings may follow, potentially affecting footfall patterns in the city centre and offering additional jobs in retail and associated services.
