Summit aims to place Raipur at centre of India's green-steel push
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will host the 5th Green Steel and Mining Summit 2026 in Raipur on August 12-13 at the MayFair Lake Resort, Naya Raipur, the industry body said in a release. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is scheduled to address the conference, which CII described as an international conference-cum-exposition focused on sustainable industrial development in one of India's leading steel-producing states.
According to the release, the summit will be attended by senior state ministers, including Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Minister of Commerce & Industry, and O P Chaudhary, Minister of Finance, Government of Chhattisgarh. CII expects participation from over 400 delegates from India and abroad, and more than 70 industries across the steel and mining value chain.
- Dates and venue: August 12-13, MayFair Lake Resort, Naya Raipur.
- Attendance: 400+ delegates and representatives from Finland, Brazil, South Africa and Sweden.
- Programme: 8 technical sessions, over 40 speakers and a 50+ technology exposition.
"The summit will bring together policymakers, manufacturers, technology providers, sustainability experts and academia to explore low-emission steel pathways and related policy frameworks," CII said in the release.
Agenda and local significance
CII said the two-day summit will feature eight technical sessions and panel discussions with more than 40 speakers covering themes such as low-emission steel pathways, policy interventions for green steel adoption and global case studies on low-carbon steel production. A technology exposition of more than 50 exhibitors will showcase clean-energy solutions and manufacturing technologies aimed at decarbonising the steel and mining sectors.
Participation will include primary and secondary steel producers, consumers, research organisations, international bodies and non-governmental organisations. CII noted representation from several foreign countries, naming Finland, Brazil, South Africa and Sweden among those expected to send delegates.
What the summit offers Raipur and Chhattisgarh
Hosting the summit in Naya Raipur places the state's industrial base and policy makers at the centre of discussions on India's green transition in steel. For local manufacturers and suppliers, the event creates opportunities to:
- See demonstrations of low-emission technologies and clean-energy solutions at the exposition.
- Engage with international firms and research organisations on collaborative projects and pilot programmes.
- Participate in policy-focused sessions that may inform state and industry roadmaps for green steel adoption.
CII named Siddharth Agrawal, Chairman of the Steel Sub-committee, CII Eastern Region, and Bajrang Goel, Chairman (name of committee truncated in the release), among the organisers involved in briefing the media about the summit.

Organisers say the summit is designed to foster dialogue between policymakers and industry on practical pathways to reduce emissions in steelmaking — a sector where Chhattisgarh has significant interests. While the release did not provide details of any financial commitments or specific state-level incentives, the presence of the Chief Minister and senior state ministers signals an official push to align local industrial development with global decarbonisation trends.
For Raipur's industrial community and local suppliers, the summit presents a concentrated forum to evaluate new technologies, explore partnerships with foreign firms and research bodies, and better understand the policy measures that might shape investment and operational decisions in the coming years.
