Big-ticket investments and job estimates for Nellore
Nellore district has attracted a string of industrial projects and proposed investments that the state government says will significantly expand local employment and industrial capacity, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Dr Ponguru Narayana said on Saturday.
Addressing the Independence Day gathering at the Police Parade Grounds after hoisting the national flag, the Minister set out figures for completed projects, memorandum-of-understanding (MoU) proposals and a major industrial township, along with recent welfare and agricultural support measures delivered to the district.

According to the Minister, the government has already established 56 major industries in Nellore district with a total investment of ₹49,000 crore, which the state says has created employment for 25,000 youth. He said further industrial activity is in the pipeline through both smaller units and larger MoUs.

Local development and agricultural supports
Alongside industrial announcements, the Minister highlighted district-level works and farmer support measures. He said agriculture continued on 3.25 lakh acres despite dry-spell conditions. Fertiliser distribution stood at 79,833 tonnes, while direct financial support included ₹117 crore under Annadata Sukhibhava and PM-Kisan schemes. Crop loans of ₹682 crore were also reported.
For Nellore city specifically, the Minister cited urban works valued at over ₹880 crore, covering school modernisation, underground drainage, road upgrades and park development. He also noted efforts to strengthen welfare measures through self-help group bank linkages and Talliki Vandanam benefits.

If the announced projects proceed to execution, Nellore could see substantial expansion in manufacturing, infrastructure demand and service-sector activity. Large multi-sector projects and industrial townships typically drive growth in construction, logistics, housing and ancillary services, which in turn support secondary employment.
