DEEG, Rajasthan — A man from Bedham village in Deeg district scaled a mobile-phone tower and threatened to end his life on Thursday, alleging that his village had been facing substandard mobile network connectivity for about a month, police said.

The individual, identified by authorities as Pushkar, remained atop the tower for close to three-and-a-half hours before coming down after intervention by local police and technicians from the telecom operator, according to official accounts.
"We received information that a young man had climbed a telecom tower over alleged technical issues and poor mobile network connectivity," said District Superintendent of Police Sharan Kamble. "Personnel from the Sadar police station were immediately dispatched, and after counselling and interaction, the youth agreed to come down safely."
Police Station In-Charge Virendra said technical staff from the operator — reported to be Jio — were called to inspect the site, assess the network fault and carry out remedial work. After discussions and preliminary repairs, Pushkar descended without injury, the officer said.
