Centre honours Goa Police in Panaji for service and security role
Panaji: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday presented the President’s Colour to the Goa Police in a ceremony held in Panaji, recognising the force’s eight decades of service and its role in maintaining internal security and maritime safety, officials said.
The ceremony was attended by Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, the Union Home Secretary, the Chief Secretary of Goa, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Goa and other dignitaries, according to the official account of the event.
Addressing those present, the Home Minister described the occasion as a matter of pride and said that the award placed the Goa Police alongside several other state forces that have previously received the honour. He noted that police forces are presented the President’s Colour for their "glorious history, professional excellence, courage, discipline and dedication," the report said.
