Moncton has become the first New Brunswick home for Urban Barn, as the Canadian furniture and décor retailer opened its new store Friday at the Mapleton Centre. The arrival gives shoppers in the city and across the region another in-person option for furniture, lighting and household accents.

The store is located at 62 Wyse Street and is the company’s 55th location since Urban Barn was founded in 1990. The Burnaby, B.C.-based business operates stores across Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia, and is now adding New Brunswick to that network.

A new retail option at Mapleton Centre

Urban Barn said its Moncton location covers more than 6,200 square feet. Its product range includes furniture for living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms and home offices, along with home décor and related items. The store also carries lighting, rugs, pillows and other textiles, wall decorations, mirrors, kitchen and tabletop products, and seasonal accents.

The company describes the location as a place where customers can view its collections in person rather than shopping exclusively online. That approach is central to the retailer’s expansion into Atlantic Canada, according to Sebastien Fauteux, Urban Barn’s creative director and general merchandise manager.

“We’re very excited to be a part of a new community in Atlantic Canada and bring our beautiful, well-made furniture and décor to design enthusiasts in Moncton and New Brunswick as well as throughout the region.”

For local customers, the store’s services include complimentary one-on-one design consultations. The location is also offering membership in Urban Barn’s national trade program for design professionals. The business said free parking is available within the Mapleton Centre, and the store is wheelchair accessible.

Local hiring and upcoming celebration

The opening has created a retail team made up of 11 employees from the Moncton area. The staffing group includes a store manager, an assistant manager and two store supervisors, with the remaining positions forming the wider store team. Urban Barn did not provide additional employment details in the announcement.

  • Location: 62 Wyse Street, Mapleton Centre, Moncton
  • Retail space: More than 6,200 square feet
  • Local staff: 11 employees
  • Opening date: Oct. 30, 2026
  • Grand-opening event: Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026

The company plans to hold its official grand-opening celebrations on Nov. 21. The event is expected to include giveaways, special promotions and in-store experiences, although the announcement did not provide further details about the programming.

Urban Barn’s expansion comes as Moncton continues to serve as a retail centre for southeastern New Brunswick and the wider region. The store says its collections are intended for local shoppers as well as customers from elsewhere in the province and Atlantic Canada. For residents looking to compare furniture and décor in person, the new Mapleton Centre location adds another choice in the city’s growing retail landscape.
